Naxalites Set Fire to Jio Tower in Bijapur, Security Forces Rush to Spot
In a fresh act of violence, Naxalites set a newly installed Jio mobile tower ablaze in Moramed village, Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred late last night, targeting a tower that had become operational only a few days earlier.
Mobile Tower Torched
The mobile tower, installed under efforts to enhance connectivity in remote areas, was reportedly set on fire by Maoists who oppose such development activities. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges in improving infrastructure in Naxalite-affected regions.
Major Encounter on Chhattisgarh-Telangana Border
On Sunday, in a significant anti-Naxal operation, the Greyhounds force killed seven Naxalites, including a woman, on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. The encounter took place in the Chalpaka forest area of Eturunagaram mandal in Telangana’s Mulugu district, near Sukma in Chhattisgarh.
Weapons Recovered
During the operation, security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle along with other arms and ammunition. Heavy gunfire was reported from both sides since Sunday morning. Authorities suspect that the deceased were members of the Bhadru Dalam group, a Naxalite faction.
Foiled Attack Plans
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Naxalites were planning a major attack, which was thwarted by the timely intervention of the security forces. The encounter underscores the sustained efforts of anti-Naxalite operations in the region.
