Instagram unleashes new tools, allowing users to better customize posts
Instagram has introduced a suite of new text tools to enhance user customization of their grids, allowing for more personalized and distinctive profiles. Users can now layer photos and overlay text as stickers in various shapes—square, circle, heart, or star—to create a unique aesthetic. The text can be added in different fonts and styles, and users can also craft collages using the gallery button.
In addition to these text tools, Instagram has rolled out new fonts, animations, and effects for Reels and Stories, enriching the creative options available. The platform has also increased the carousel post limit to 20 photos and videos, enabling more extensive content sharing in a single post.
Echoing the customization of early social media platforms like Myspace, Instagram now allows users to add a song to their profile. This feature aims to offer a nostalgic touch and further personalization.
Additionally, Instagram is testing a new location-based feature, which will enable users to share real-time text or video updates pinned to specific locations on a map. Currently being trialed in select small markets, this feature will allow updates to be visible only to those on a user's Close Friends list or reciprocal followers. Updates from friends will be displayed in proximity on the map.
It's important to note that this location-based feature is still in the testing phase and not available to all users by default.
