BPSC Topper Farah Nishat: From Small Town Dreams to Becoming a Judge
Farah Nishat, a native of Jehanabad, has made her mark by clearing the 32nd Bihar Judicial Services Examination (BPSC 2024), paving her way to becoming a judge. Her achievement has not only brought immense joy to her family but also put her in the limelight as an inspiration for youth, particularly women.
Farah, 28, is the cousin of Sharjeel Imam, who is currently in jail on sedition charges related to the Delhi riots. Despite the controversies surrounding her family, Farah's hard work and dedication have brought a moment of pride and happiness to her loved ones. This marks the first joyous occasion for the family since Sharjeel's incarceration.
Academic Journey and Early Career
Farah’s educational journey began in Kako, Jehanabad. After completing her schooling, she cracked the CLAT exam and graduated in law from Hidayatullah National University, Raipur, in 2018. She later worked as a Law Clerk and Research Assistant at the Supreme Court, gaining firsthand exposure to the judicial process.
Encouraged by her experiences, she decided to prepare for the Bihar Judicial Services Examination. Farah attributes her success to her parents—Nishat Akhtar, a retired government officer, and Akbari Khatoon, a homemaker—as well as her siblings and extended family. She relied on self-study and family guidance to clear the preliminary and main examinations and took additional help from coaching institutes for interview preparation.
Family’s Reaction and Social Media Buzz
Farah’s achievement has created a wave of celebration within her family. Sharjeel’s younger brother, Mujammil Imam, expressed his pride on social media, writing:
"This is the philosophy of life—while one brother fights for justice behind bars, the sister will now serve justice from the judge's chair. I hope you ensure fairness in your rulings and prevent any injustice against the innocent. May Allah give you strength and wisdom."
A Role Model for Many
Farah's dedication and perseverance have made her a source of inspiration, especially for women aspiring to pursue a career in law. She emphasizes her commitment to delivering swift and fair judgments, aiming to serve society with integrity.
