Acknowledging corruption in transfer, posting, Chief Minister announces big new initiative
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has acknowledged that government transfers and postings are a major source of corruption. To address this issue, the state government will introduce a portal allowing employees to manage their own transfers with minimal government intervention. Additionally, CM Sarma revealed that the 14th medical college in Assam will be inaugurated in Guwahati next year, with three more medical colleges expected to start by 2026.
Recently, there has been significant debate in India regarding the distribution of compensation for deceased government employees. It has been a topic of discussion that a portion of the compensation should be allocated to the employee's parents. In response to this, CM Sarma has announced a new rule for compensation distribution. According to the new rule, compensation will be divided in an 80:20 ratio, with 80% going to the deceased employee’s spouse and 20% to the parents. This rule will come into effect immediately. CM Sarma emphasized that the aim of this decision is to ensure that the family does not face additional hardships during a time of grief.
